Conceptual Design

| This is a design layout of a boat and it is titled "The Argo." |
It turns out that this boat is used for touring the waters of Ljunljanica River in Slovenia. The boat has been designed to capture the pituresque locals of the surronding area of Ljunljanica River. Also, the fact that the boat is opened without any boundaries represents the closeness it can find to nature. I like this conceptual design because it’s unique. Usually when I look up ideas for interior design, I always get images or layouts of buildings, hotels, residential homes but never a yacht. The detailed descriptions inside of the boat are eccentric and very cool. | The "body" |
This piece comes from Michael Rees' Monster Series. His work references surrealism, and other movements in art history. as well as western analytic science and eastern metaphysics. Rees is a self described "pataphysician", a maker of imaginary solutions and an investigator of the truth of contradictions and expectations. When I first saw this sculpture, I really didn’t know what to think of it. At first it appeared to be two figures, toppling over each other. Then, the second time I looked at it, it appeared to be two headless figures. Really anyone can look at it an interpret it any way they want to. You can find this sculpture at this website: http://atc.berkeley.edu/bio/Michael_Rees/

I like the boot sculpture!
